Day 12 - Miller Time!

Finally got all the wood down in the living room. Bedroom will be another trip...

It appears that the hard wood floor in the rest of the house was not just nailed down with brads but also glued down! Never heard of such a thing. I always thought that the wood needed to move a bit with temperature and humidity. Must be why it is rock solid - no creaks at all.

Completely cut. Finish cutting with chisel. This wood is very hard and smells weird when cut.

Day 11

Oris stopped by today to show me TJ, their newest mutt. His mother was a long hair Dachshund  and his father was a miniature Bulldog.

A fawn and her mom visited today as did the Turkeys. Turkey are getting used to me I think.

Either tomorrow or Sunday I will need to decide on how to end the flooring at the hallway entrance. Here is a simple drawing showing how I plan to do it.

Got a good bit of flooring down today.

Day 10

Got past the other corner of the hearth. Lots of Liquid Nails for those little pieces and some face nailing.

This stapling down a board that co-operates...

These pictures are great, they don't show all the gaps... :-)

Day 9

Rows, rows, rows...

Four more rows then I have to tackle the corner on the other side of the hearth.

Day 8

Not much to report, got some rows done.

Kind of weird to be in the phone book in two different states

Few more rows done

Turkey Fun

Turkeys came back in the afternoon for about and hour and half. They pecked, cackled, and strutted . The young ones were actually playing. They really like our yard.  One Tom put up his tail feathers.

Day 7

Got the border around the hearth done and put down some more rows. Ran into a snafu though. One of the boards on the end decided to warp a little over night so I glued a 1 footer to it and applied pressure. It'll have to set over night so that is the end of rows today. I also had to pull up a couple of rows because two joints were about 2" away from each other. Not only do I have to contend with board length, board color, but also width. Some boards are a 1/32" smaller than other ones. don't really notice until the next row goes down and a small crack is revealed...

 Keys still there
