Well folks, we canceled the contract. I talked with the BLM folks (Bureau of Land Management, Department of Interior) and they said that the house will have to be removed or at least the part that hangs over the property line. Feel bad for the owner... Glad I ordered a survey...
I guess someday I'll update this blog when we have a new property on contract.

Property Survey Bummer
We had a survey of the property started because we noticed that Google Maps showed the house very close to the property line and we plan to build a drive through garage near the house. Well, as it turned out the house is actually ON the property line. The property that it encroaches on is government property so we are now in the process working with the government to get this fixed. The onus is actually on the seller but we want to be involved because this may be an opportunity to pay less for the property.
We are also having fun with the loan company, USAA. They want current updated statements of some of the accounts and some of the accounts issue statements quarterly. The next statement cycle will be early May (first quarter 2011). Working with our financial adviser to get statements.
